This is quote from Ulrich Richter, Executive director of VW’s R brand. Personally I think he’s wrong, but I’ve got the view of if its not Rear Wheel drive or petrol i’m not intrested.

Sadly I think he’s right though, with diesel proving it’s self in endurance racing), and All wheel drive being offenred in many sports cars for the last 10 years. I really am thinking that the next 5 years will be the end of what most of us would call a ‘sports car’. This saddens me as we wont see anything like the current crop of supercars again, But at the same time I feel a bit smug knowing future generations won’t have been around to see them.

Only time will tell though, and with Toyota of all people releasing the FT86 next year, maybe things arn’t as bleek as i’ve expecting them to be!
